چکیده

The total neutron-Nucleus cross section has been calculated within an approach which takes into account nucleon-nucleon correlations, Glauber multiple scattering and inelastic shadowing corrections. Nuclear targets ranging from 4He to 208Pb and neutron incident momentum ranging from 3 to 300 GeV/c, have been considered. Correlations have been introduced by two different approaches leading to the same results. The commonly used approximation, consisting in treating nuclear effects only by a product of one-body densities, is carefully analyzed and it is shown that the effects of realistic correlations resulting from modern nucleon-nucleon interactions and realistic correlations resulting from realistic nucleon-nucleon interactions and microscopic ground state calculation of nuclear properties cannot be disregarded.

A Realistic Solvable Model for the Coulomb Dissociation of Neutron Halo Nuclei

As a model of a neutron halo nucleus we consider a neutron bound to an inert core by a zero range force. We study the breakup of this simple nucleus in the Coulomb field of a target nucleus. In the post-form DWBA (or, in our simple model CWBA (“Coulomb Wave Born Approximation”)) an analytic solution for the T -matrix is known. We study limiting cases of this T -matrix. As it should be, we recov...

Technical Memorandum 4 . TITLE AND SUBTITLE Target Correlation E ects on Neutron - Nucleus Total

Second-order optical model solutions to the elastic scattering amplitude were used to evaluate total, absorption, and abrasion cross sections for neutron-nucleus scattering. Improved agreement with experimental data for total and absorption cross sections is found when compared with rst-order (coherent approximation) solutions, especially below several hundred MeV. At higher energies, the rstan...

Simple function forms and nucleon-nucleus total cross sections

School of Physics, The University of Melbourne, Victoria 3010, Australia (Dated: April 7, 2004) Abstract Total cross sections for neutron scattering with energies between 10 and 600 MeV and from nine nuclei spanning the mass range from 6Li to 238U have been analyzed using a simple function of three parameters. The values of those parameters with which neutron total cross-section data are replic...

Fine Structure Discussion of Parity-nonconserving Neutron Scattering at Epithermal Energies

The large magnitude and the sign correlation effect in the parity non-conserving resonant scattering of epithermal neutrons from Th is discussed in terms of a non-collective 2p− 1h local doorway model. General conclusions are drawn as to the probability of finding large parity violation effects in other regions of the periodic table. PACS numbers: 25.40.Ny, 11.30.Er, 24.10.Ht, 24.80.Dc CTP# 229...

Optical-model description of time-reversal violation in neutron-nucleus scattering.

A time-reversal-violating spin-correlation coefficient in the total cross section for polarized neutrons incident on a tensor rank-2 polarized target is calculated by assuming a time-reversal-noninvariant, parity-conserving “five-fold” interaction in the neutron-nucleus optical potential. Results are presented for the system n + Ho for neutron incident energies covering the range 1–20 MeV. From...
